northern momma sewing up a storm!

Handing Down a Gift

I don’t even remember how old I was when my mom taught me to sew on a machine. Four? Maybe five? I do remember the first project being this little 9-patch quilt for my dolly. We did yarn ties instead of quilting. I’ll have to see if I can find a picture of it somewhere! That was the beginning of a hobby I would grow to love! Since then, I’ve made clothes (some for myself – still working on that!), quilts, doll clothes – all sorts of things! Because when you have a creative outlet, the sky is the limit! more

“Not Just a Sunsuit” Pattern Tour!

Paneled Sunsuit

Bet you couldn’t guess that’s a sunsuit, right?? Ha, this pattern, The Paneled Sunsuit by Call Ajaire, includes all the options you might need: skirt, top, sunsuit, pants…the options are almost endless. And of course I chose to go with a simple view, but it’s something that J really needs. This kid is sprouting faster than I can sew! I mean, look at that picture!? She looks all grown up! more
